What is Discover Our World aka DOW? Discover Our World is Discovery’s largest fundraiser. The profits of DOW are utilized for Discovery’s Development Fund. Discover Our World is also a time to reflect on the past and celebrate Discovery’s future with those that make it possible—all of our stakeholders—YOU.

What is the Development Fund? The Development Fund is the school’s fundraising account which helps to assist Discovery’s larger projects that support our students and staff. Some examples include:

  • Barn Rehab

  • New Roof

  • Mold Remediation

  • Playground Equipment

  • Outdoor Playground

  • Open Field (next to the barn)

  • Barn Remodel/Outfitting

What is the attire for DOW? There is typically some kind of theme, but really and truly anything goes. You can dress up in a fancy dress or dress down in jeans and a sweater or anything in between. The 2025 theme is 80s Prom, so think “Pretty in Pink” style…but anything goes!! Don’t not come because you don’t like to dress up, throw on your fancy pajamas and celebrate Discovery with us. Best outfit gets a prize!

How much are tickets? FLASH SALE Ticket prices pre-sale are $40/each only until 2/18/25. They will go up to $50 after that until April 6th, at which time they will go up to $60/each. Tickets will go up to $75 after April 6th. Tickets are also sold at the door, but you are encouraged to purchase in advance.

Is food served? Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served, and a beer or wine tickets are also included with each paid ticket. Cash bar also available. There is no sit down dinner, rather lots of finger foods to enjoy while chatting. An upgraded band will be available to purchase to allow for a full open bar.

What is the atmosphere at DOW? There is always plenty of entertainment and we work in a fun theme each year. From casino night, wine tasting, dueling pianos, live music, DJs…each event is different. Expect lots of mingling and laughs and time for parents and staff to have fun in an upbeat setting. Auction items include teacher times, VIP car line spots, student art and many more desirable items/gift certificates and adventures from local businesses and beyond.

Who attends DOW? EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to attend DOW! Bring your friends and family (over 21) and mingle with your Discovery community.

Who volunteers for DOW? We need all the volunteers we can get. DOW is a huge undertaking. It takes hundreds of hours to put it together. We need volunteers to solicit sponsors, auctions items, collect basket items from classrooms, organize baskets, volunteer for set up, clean up and during the event.

Can I help if I’m unable to attend? YES!! You can help with the pre-planning, you can sell raffle tickets, you can solicit businesses, you can donate, you can sponsor. Reach out if you want to help but don’t know how.
